About
Ben Ross is a passionate and dedicated fine art portrait photographer in Nashville, Tennessee. A three-time Tennessee state cycling champion, Ben’s competitive nature and success-driven personality shaped the foundation for his success as a sports and now portrait photographer. Never satisfied with “good” photographs or following trends, Ben creates inspirational images that capture the essence of the person and the moment. He loves to study people from behind the lens, searching for their true personalities. Ben appreciates the beauty in each person and strives to capture and accentuate that in his images.
Ben designed Ross Portrait Gallery from a guest’s perspective, attempting to build an environment, process, and experience that will make you feel at home, relaxed, and have every desire met at the highest level. He is an expert at lighting with a broad range of styles. He appreciates a loose, casual photo as much as the elegance of the traditional and timeless portrait.
As a sports photographer, Ben’s work has been featured in Sports Illustrated and USA Today, and he is a contributing photographer for VeloNews, the leading bicycle racing magazine in the US. And as a member of the press, Ben’s work earned him a place among the upper echelon of professional media photographers, covering the Tour de France each year since 2005 as well as the Tour de Georgia and other key events in the United States. He’s come a long way since receiving his first camera, a Polaroid, at the age of eight.
Ben is an optimistic family man with a heart for God. He’s the husband of the “most amazing woman with the most beautiful smile God ever created,” and father to three precious boys who in his own words, “Make me think, do, and say things I would never have thought possible.” He loves a good glass of Bordeaux, a captivating book and antiquing almost as much as he loves to see a genuine smile and laugh. Ben recognizes that his talents and gifts are just that, gifts to be used and shared. Sharing his work with the world is Ben’s way of taking others along with him on this magical ride along the road of life. He hopes you enjoy the ride just a much.
“The most rewarding part of the portrait process is the look on my clients’ faces knowing that I helped them realize a dream, capture a special moment, and create a memory that will last a lifetime. It’s the single most gratifying experience of my professional life – and I get to experience it with each and every client.”
