New Senior Portraits website up online and active!

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

I’m excited to tell you that our new Senior Portraits website is now active and ready for traffic (www.rossportraitgallery.com/seniors).  I’ve been extremely busy photographing some fun young men and women 2010 seniors over the last several weeks, and the work has paid off with a collection of images that shows off a bit of what we can offer upcoming seniors in the class of 2010 as an alternative to the standard senior pictures that are offered by most of the school photographers.

One of the biggest myths about high school senior photos is that you have to go to the school photographer for your senior pictures.  Although that may be true for the yearbook formal photo, you are free to (and should) choose your own photographer to do the remainder of your senior portraits, one whose style you like and who has the ability and desire to help you express your individuality through your photos.  We feel we do this better than anyone else in Middle Tennessee, so if you live in Nashville, Brentwood, Franklin, Murfreesboro, Hendersonville, Gallatin etc. (you get the drift), why not treat yourself to an unrivaled experience at this important milestone in your life?

We are booking sessions now for July and August for sessions here in Middle Tennessee, so click on the contact tab at the top to call or e-mail us and book your session.  And anyone wanting to invest in the experience of a lifetime by traveling to either Alys Beach, Florida or Paris France for one of our exotic Destination Supermodel experiences, please call for details and to discuss possible time availability.

We look forward to creating some exciting, fun, unique (like you), and beautiful images with you.  At Ross Portrait Gallery, our senior portrait moto is “Just Be You!”

Senior 2010 season is upon us!

tennessee senior portrait, nashville senior photography

With the 2010 high school senior photo season upon us, I have been working hard on creating my business development materials to get the word out about our senior photography program.  Part of that process has been doing sessions with some young ladies (still looking for a couple of young men) to create the images that will go into those materials.

Kelly is a lovely young lady with such a bright personality and beautiful smile.  We had a blast doing everything from casual jeans outside to elegant studio images, and we even did some of her in her ballerina outfit for an upcoming recital (she teaches dance to little girls).  Here are just a few from her session.

Stay tuned for more info on our senior program soon.  In the meantime, if you know of some fun, gregarious guys and gals in the class of 2010, give me a call.  We are looking for Model “Reps” to help us create our images and also to help get the word out to their friends (and earn photo credit in the process!).

Boys will be boys

Thomas Boys at Play Painting

Sometimes you just have to let boys be boys.  We had these two in recently with the goal of creating a beautiful portrait of them together. Of course with a pair of boys this age it’s always a bit of a challenge to get that “perfect” shot of them both cooperating at the same time. Usually one will be still while the other is squirming around, then he will break loose about the time the other slows down. It’s challenging but fun, and we are used to it and have a few tricks to get and keep their attention.

We did capture several beautiful images of both boys, but the image that we loved the most (Ben loved it so much he painted it), and the image Mom and Dad loved the most as well, happened when we dumped the Lincoln logs out and “gave them a break” from being photographed. Of course Ben never stops shooting and sees these intimate peeks at children just being children as some of the most special and meaningful images he creates. This is not simply taking snapshots of kids playing but rather these are carefully lit and crafted images that reflect the natural character of children just being themselves.

Of course we all love the “perfect” image where everyone is looking at the camera, the posing is just right, and everyone appears relaxed and comfortable, but sometimes the magic happens when we just let boys be boys.

Graceful and goofy

Saturday, November 8th, 2008

We recently had the pleasure of having Anna as a guest at the Gallery for her portrait session.  Anna has such a sweet spirit, and after allowing us to capture some elegant images in her pink dress out on the grounds of our building, we went inside to the camera room where she changed into her ballet outfit and really cut loose, showing her fun-loving personality.

Here are a couple of completely contrasting images from the day - two of my favorites.  I started painting the one of her in the garden area because it struck me as a gentle, intimate view of Anna simply being a little girl.  And how could you not love the sassy pose she struck in her ballet outfit?  Absolutely precious!  This is a great example of how we can accomplish different looks and styles all in the course of a single session.

We loved having Anna in that day and love sharing these images with you.
